BISSELL Rental's spring cleaning checklist makes it much easier to head into the springtime months with a clean, fresh home.

We all love the time of year when temperatures begin to rise and snow and ice start to melt making way for pleasant springtime months – so it must also mean time for spring cleaning is near. Giving your home a deep clean doesn’t have to take weeks and a lot of work. Our spring cleaning checklist makes it easier to head into the springtime months with a clean house!

Spring Clean Carpets with a Deep Clean

When your doors and windows stay closed for the winter months to keep warm air inside, you probably don’t think about what else is staying indoors with you: dust and dirt. In fact, deep in your carpet fibers is a favorable spot for dust and allergens, and they settle in over long winter months.

To get rid of dust, dirt, and stains one of the most important spring house cleaning tasks is to deep clean your carpet. Start the process by:
  • First vacuum the area.
  • Then use a pretreat stain formula of your choice on tough stains like pet urine or ground-in dirt.
  • Deep clean your carpet with the Big Green® Deep Cleaning Machine carpet cleaner rental as normal, making one wet forward and backward pass and a second dry forward and backward pass.

Deep Clean the Couch

The couch is a well-loved item of any home, but with any well-loved item, it collects a lot of dirt, dust, and other stains. Give your couch and other upholstered furniture a deep clean as a part of your spring cleaning list.

Wash Your Pet’s Bed

What about Fido’s furniture? Pet beds are great places for dust mites to settle and are often overlooked when cleaning. Toss it in the wash and your furry friend will thank you!

Polish Up Walls and Windows

Walls and windows can be spring cleaned, too! Over the winter months dust can easily settle on these surfaces so it’s important to re-visit these at least once a year. Begin by washing the inside and outside of your windows. Then wipe down blinds and window frames. Next, dust the walls, as well as baseboards and other trim. Make sure to reach the corners and other hard-to-reach places and use a cleaning formula for any tough stains or scuffs on your walls. Wipe down light fixtures and ceiling fans, too, to get rid of any wintertime germs and dust that might be lingering.

Organize, Organize, Organize

Spring is a great time to start fresh so give yourself a few days to get organized. Organize your home by:
  • Cleaning off countertops
  • Emptying and sorting through cabinets and drawers
  • Reorganizing rooms and closets
  • Throw away and recycle papers you no longer need, or file them away

Other Spring Cleaning Tasks:

  • Replace batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

  • Clean out your refrigerator and freezer, including throwing out expired food.

  • Sweep and mop under major appliances or furniture.

  • Vacuum and flip your mattress.

  • Disinfect your pet’s toys – or replace them with new ones.

  • Replace lightbulbs.

  • Launder throw blankets, shams, and decorative pillows.

  • Wash your shower curtain.

  • Go through your computer to clean out cluttered files and bookmarks.

  • Disinfect your phone and phone case.

Is it that time of year again? Get to deep spring cleaning —and get ready to enjoy the weather!
