HOW TO CLEAN CARPET STAINS

Family parties. Guests who don’t take off their shoes. New pets. Dirty cleats from outdoor sports.

There are so many ways that dirt and stains can work their way into your carpet. But no matter how they got there, it’s probably time to try deep carpet cleaning. You should do a deep carpet clean in your home at least twice a year and maybe even more if you have pets or small children who spend a lot of time on the carpet. Deep cleaning carpet helps keep your home free of odors, allergens, and dust.

But, how do you figure out how to clean carpet stains? BISSELL Rental can help! We have a complete line of carpet stain removal products formulated to maximize the effectiveness of our Big Green Deep Cleaning Machine®.

HOW TO CLEAN UP AFTER PETS

If your pet has an accident on the carpet, there’s no need to panic. Organic stains from pets are best cleaned first with Pet Urine Stain & Odor. Here are the steps we use to clean up pet messes:

  • Pick up any solid mess with a paper plate or paper towel.
  • Then, gently blot up excess liquid with clean paper towel.
  • Spray formula over and around the stained area. For smelly or dried stains, cover with a damp white cloth after you spray and let it sit for 24 hours. This helps the enzymes that break down organic materials stay active. Enzyme-based cleaners take out odors to help keep your pet from marking the same spot repeatedly.
  • Blot the area one last time and let dry.
  • If there is any color left in the stain, rent the BISSELL Big Green® and use our oxygen-based machine formula to get the last of the color out.
  • One last FYI: Be sure to spray and clean in a larger area than the stain appears to cover. Once liquid hits the carpet backing, it spreads out. The stain that you see is just the tip of the iceberg; clean at least a six-inch radius around the stain to get the whole thing.
  • And more!

HOW TO CLEAN DISGUSTING CARPET

  • First, go rent that Big Green®! The first step in deep carpet cleaning is to rent a carpet shampooer. The BISSELL Big Green will do the hard work for you. It’s easier than you think:
  • Before you actually use the Big Green, we recommend pre-treating especially stained, matted or gross areas of your carpet. Use our Heavy Traffic pre-treat spray to loosen and remove embedded dirt. If you have a random colored stain that could be coffee or juice, try our Oxy Deep® Pro spray.
  • Next, you’ll need to decide which formula would be the best for your deep carpet cleaning. For really gross carpet, we recommend our best cleaning formula: Advanced Clean & Protect. Use this for professional results and to protect your carpet from future stains with StainProtect™ technology (it helps stains bead up on the top of the carpet instead of soak into the fibers!)
  • We have three other machine formulas too!
  • Deep Clean + Refresh with Febreze®makes it easy to remove deep down dirt and odors. It leaves a light scent after cleaning so you can smell how clean your carpet is now!
  • Remove tough pet messes and odors with our Pet Stain & Odor machine formula.
  • Our Multi-Purpose machine formula has oxy stain fighting power to remove colored stains from your carpet.
  • Now you are ready to clean your carpet. Not sure what to do? Watch our video on How to Use the BISSELL Big Green.
